Am I paranoid or will the screen correct itself when powered on? The screen tilts forward...which looks weird because the screen slides out from the bottom...this is what it looked like right out the box. I did buy the manufactured reconditioned unit though...got it from sound of tri state.
In regards to the wiring, I must admit I was scratching body parts when looking at the Maestro RR wiring diagram, and the Kenwood DNN991HD wiring harness. For those going with this set-up - I came up with the following;
On the DNN991, there is the "Main Harness" (it is referred to this on the Maestro RR wiring diagram) - which is actually labelled Accessory 1 in the Kenwood manual. Then, there is a small 3 wire harness labelled in the Kenwood manual as Accessory 2, which contains the wires labelled PARK SW (Light Green), REVERSE (Purple/White), and a third wire labeled RELAY (Blue/Red).
So, there are actually two harness on the Kenwood DNN991 side that connect to the one MUS1 T-Harness. Some wires on the KW side contain large labels with the assignment in CAPS, but some wires are not labeled (so just go by color).
On the Kenwood "Accessory 2" harness:
1. MUS1 Reverse Light (Purple/White) to KW REVERSE (Purple/White) (I am installing a Kenwood Back-up Camera)
2. MUS1 E-Brake (Lt Green) to KW PARK SW (Lt Green) - in my case, I will send the KW PARK SW to Ground - which prevents some "lock-outs" while driving.
3. KW RELAY (Blue/Red) - Not Used (in my case)
On the Kenwood "Accessory 1" harness are the following:
1. Speaker wires - Front L/R and Rear L/R that match up wire color to wire color on the MUS1 T-Harness. On my 2014 w/ Shaker and Sync, I am leaving these disconnected on the Kenwood side, and soldering RCA's onto the MUS1 side to plug into the Kenwood RCA speaker pre-outs (I am using the factory amp - which drives all four speakers, and has a built-in cross over to also drive the door subs). This is supposed to eliminate any "hiss" at low volume.
2. MUS1 Amp Turn On (Blue/White) to KW P CONT (Blue/White)
3. MUS1 Ground (Black) to KW Black
4. MUS1 Accessory (Red) to KW Red
5. MUS1 +12V (Yellow) to KW Yellow
6. MUS1 Parking Light (Orange) to KW ILLUMI (Orange/White)
7. KW REMOTE CONT (Lt Blue/Yellow) - Not used
8. KW ANT CONTROL (Blue) - Not Used
9. KW MUTE (Brown) - Not Used
Also, on the MUS1 side, there are three RCA's (I bought the kit when it first came out) - two labeled AUX IN (Red/White) which I will leave disconnected since I have Sync. And, one RCA labeled SUB IN which I will leave disconnected since I have a 2014 Shaker and will be using the factory Amp which includes a cross over to drive the door Subs. Will tape them up.
I think this covers all the "wire matching" between the KW DNN991HD and MUS1 T-Harnes - for a 2014 (and I suspect 2013) with Shaker and Sync. The OBD2 wires (clearly labeled), and the Pink wire for Sync are the only others on the MUS1 side - you know what to do with these! (although wish me luck with the Sync wire!)
12V Guy - if you have any corrections - please advise.
Assuming correct - hope this helps future DNN991HD/MUS1 kit users. Again - in my case I have a 2014 with Shaker and Sync and will use the factory amp.
Haven't installed a car stereo in about a decade, so been doing quite a bit of research here! I would appreciate if someone could double-check my shopping list here to make sure that I'm getting everything I need (and the right things). My goals are to keep factory sync/bluetooth/satellite, control climate/heated seats through the receiver, keep the steering wheel controls, and add a backup camera.

Bump - can anyone confirm this is all I need? Thanks!

Yes i have the same setup; with a 890hd and boyo slim frame cam.
Any advice for how to get the wiring from the camera into the trunk? Haven't really had a chance to go look at it yet.
Crud, I also had a couple of questions...
From the reading I have done in this thread, I have come to understand that we need to program the buttons on the Maestro buttons to do what our choices are for those three to do. And that the only way this can be changed is to remove the entire unit to re-program it. So here are my questions. Is this true (Having to remove it)? And what choices did you make, or correct to as what you originally thought was your top five buttons turned out to be different?...
The one other question popped into my mind... When opening the Kenwood unit, do those of us with an automatic need to place the shift selector into drive in order for the face-plate to not hit it as we change CD's/DVD's? Or is there enough clearance between the shift selector in park and the unit when fully open?
In preparation for this Kenwood HD, I just purchased a new Factory rear spoiler, painted Ruby Red with the factory camera installed already. Here is what I know...
I need to find a factory plug either from Ford or somewhere to plug into the new camera on the spoiler, and wiring to run up to the head unit.
Any ideas where to get these?
Also...
I plan to purchase the DNX891HD head-unit in October or November (Black Friday comes to mind), but when looking at the owners manual it looks like the Camera connection is RCA, and I see the wire I am to plug into the Reverse wire... I however also see the CMOS connections.
So here are my questions on that...
Which set of connections do I use?
Do I need to get the Ford wires/connection or is this one of those items I will find "Pre-wired" in the car and all I have to do is connect the connections and we are done?
And as for the spoiler...
Is there a thread somewhere I missed when searching that walks us through removing and then mounting the new spoiler?
Thank you!
