whats up! first post on this site. Can someone elaborate on Powershifting? been wondering about it and would it be harsh on a stock tranny?

harsh..yes..i would get used ot being able to pefectly shift ur car first. power shifting is when u keep ur foot on the gas the ENTIRE 1/4 mile. u need to be QUICK cause once u push that clutch in, your free reving the motor. im still scared to do it!! lol

Please dont take this the wrong way, but I was explained like this. Speed shifting is holding the gas pedal down, never letting up and shifting with the clutch as fast as you can. Powershifting is shifting with the gas pedal down and no clutch at all. You just bang it into gear. Most of the guys I run with say, the .1 th of a sec you save in your time is not worth the wear and tear on the tranny. Now, there are guys out there that are magical behind the wheel of a car and can do anything smoothly. I'm just not one of them.lol. :coolman:

Since I raced him that day, I'm sure he wont mind me posting that info for him. R/T .364, (60ft 2.169), (330 5.588), (1/8 8.370), mph 89.30, (1000ft 10.756), 1/4 12.774 at 112.04 mph.

Thanks for the info. Just wondering because we have almost the same time into the 1000 ft. I had a little better 60 ft. (2.062) but his time is (.14) ahead at 1000 ft.(10.896)(96.67 mph) Just wanted to know if I may have been in the 12's. Thanks again :burnout:

Those that are getting 2.0 60 foots, what is your launching technique? Also, are you using 32 psi in the tires? what kind of burn out? I can't seem to get my 60 foots faster than 2.2

i just let the clutch out instead of dropping it. i put the tires to 20 psi . no burnout nessicary on stock tires. just clean them off.

It can be done...I ran 12.45@115 with catback, filter, shifter and about 150 lbs removed from car. 60 ft was 1.97. Add a midpipe, ported blower/tb/plenum, tune = low 12's/high 11's on stock pulley and stock tires (as long as 60 ft is still 2.0 or better).
