I went to Byron today (11-9-'03) to improve my previous best of a 12.77 @ 110 mph. Got there around 11:30. Watched a little bit of racing. Then went and got in the staging lanes. Made my first pass at 12:24. Came off the line at 3000 rpm. 1.98 60 FT. Missed 2nd:mad: and missed 4th:mad:. End result is a 13.31 @ 99 mph.

Now I'm loosened up. Got back in the lanes for another pass. Made the 2nd pass at 12:32. Did the same thing. Came off the line at 3000 rpm. My 60 FT. was a 1.961. 1/8th was a 8.179 @ 88.37. End result was a 12.58 @ 112. I was happy. The car weighed 3805 lbs. with me in it.

3rd run. Made this pass at 1:02. Came off the line again at 3000 rpm. 60 FT. was a 1.976. 1/8th mi. time was 8.128 @ 88.82. End result was a 12.524 @ 111.79 mph. I was happy with the improvment.

4th run. Made this pass at 1:09. This time I took out the spare tire and jack out of the car. The car now weighed 3745 lbs. with me. Got back in the lanes. Did the same routine. Came off the line at 3000 rpm. The 60 FT. was a 1.983. 1/8th mi. time was a 8.148 @ 88.85 mph. End result was a 12.528 @ 112.59 mph.

I was happy with that 4th pass, so I went back to the pits and parked the car to let it cool down.

5th run. Made this pass at 3:23. I decided to change my launching technique, so I upped my launch RPM to 3400 rpm. This resulted in some wheel hop. Let out of it a bit. 60 FT. was a 2.035. 1/8th mi. was 8.249 @ 88.84 mph. End result was a 12.62 @ 112.98 mph. That was my best MPH of the day.

Last run. Made this pass at 3:47. Since I had wheel hopped a bit on the last pass I lowered the launch rpm back to 3000 rpm. The car came off the line good. 60 FT. was 1.965. 1/8th mi. was a 8.123 @ 88.92 mph. End result was a 12.511 @ 112.09 mph.

Since my previous best of a 12.77 @ 110.57 I have added the 12" K&N filter and uploaded the Predator Performance Tune. I am quite please with the performance of this basically stock car.:D
These times wore done with out power shifting.

Here's my best timeslip:

Damn Tim that is a great 60' time....do you like the S03's? I am leaning towards the kumho MX or the Goodyear DS3's. You just dumping the clutch at those RPM's?

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone heard of the 03 Cobra running similar times to mine. My third time at the track I ran:

R/T .612
60' 1.986
330 5.402
1/8 8.175
MPH 88.90
990 10.472
1/4 12.539
MPH 113.51

I did NOTHING to the car except for a Pro 5.0 shifter. I'm curious in seeing what HP it's putting out, maybe it's a factory freak. Thanks for the input.

Hi Tim, thanks. I was granny shifting at 6500 for all gears. I was surprised at the MPH for being all stock. It was on a pretty cool night. I was running 12.6s all night and the last run was the 12.53. If I improve my 60' time I should be able to get a 12.4.

I was at Byron, too, but on the 8th with my Cobra, on the 9th with my Grand Prix, lol. I ran best times both days with both cars. I noticed on Sat. (the 8th) that there was really no wind, on Sun. (9th) there was a headwind. Both days were rather cold, around 40 deg. I ran w/o the silencer, no jack/spare, no headlight, 24 psi in rear tires, 44 psi in the fronts, otherwise stock.

Here is my best timeslip:

Sat. 11/08/03
3:29 pm
R/T... .571
60'.....1.979
330....5.386
1/8.....8.141
MPG....90.07
1000..10.482
1/4.....12.459
MPH....114.10

Very nice times:beer: Looks like that taking out the head light helps, did you try to make any runs with the head light in?
