The SVTOA is opening up the season with our first autocross at Fort Devens AFB on April 3, 2004. These events fill up quickly, so don't loose your chance to go out and see what you and your vehicle can do... In an arena where the only three factors are skill, handeling, and accelleration.

For anyone who hasn't experienced autocrossing, it is a safe and fun way to practice driving like you stole it... without getting arrested. We use the 1.5 mile tarmac and access roads, cone off a specific course of slollums, off set gates, and sweeping high speed corners. With our several skill/vehicle categories and computerized timing system, everything is fair... and most of all FUN!

check out www.SVTOA.org for registration info, and hope see you there!

Anyone without a SVTOA membership. You got a free 1 year membership when you bought your cobra, you just need to activate it. Goto www.svtoa.com to get their number and call them. It's easier than doing the stuff online.

I would highly sugest anyone who wishes to register to do it soon! Usually we allow 32 vehicles/participants which gives an average of 9 runs... but we are only allowing 25 vehicles/participants this time, so there will be pleanty of seat time! At this point we are only accepting SVTOA members, but will be opening up to non-members soon. So, if you want in... register now!

Hey Folks,

Great event yesterday! Next event is 5/9/04.

Below are some videos from yesterday (mainly from an M3's point of view). One of the best videos is the Lightning (aka While Elephant). I was please the course dried by the PM and was able to rip off the best Ford time for the day.

Re Cost - Just want to make sure everyone realizes this is not your typical autox. Course length is over 1.6 miles long, this is no 35 second parking lot setup. Everyone got 8 eight official runs and free fun runs after the event. Please drop me an email if you are interested in running one of the events.

This was my first SVTOA event and it was awesome. Chris Yates and his gang put on a great event. The layout was great and everthing ran very smoothly. The weather in the am was so-so, but after the lunch break the track started to dry out and the times started to fall fast. I am so impressed with the way things went. There were some amazing drivers out there. I signed up for the six events at Devon's this year and I cannot wait! Some of you might think that 50 bucks is to much to pay for a day of racing as fast as you can. I think this is a steal!! I'll pay the 50 bucks so I dont have to see blue lights in my rear view mirror any day. Besides, you can learn alot about how to handle your car/truck in a controlled environment. Which in turn makes you a better street driver. I look forward to to many auto-x events with the SVTOA.

alchemy - Glad you had a great time! In some respects the morning rain was good from a training perspective. It forced folks to concentrate on the course over sheer speed. Hopefully the 5/9 event will be dry and a bit warmer.
