Following the steps of the little brother challenger hellcat on the HP wars and bragging rights, the team viper is stepping up for next years with the realease of a 900 HP supercharger kit for the viper and also a 733 N/A package as well.

Ford better throw way more than 600ish HP on this new little V6 ford GT (or better be 2500lbs) if they want to compete imo.
A lighter ford gt will not overcome a 300HP difference imo. The viper is also a very lightweight car.

Good job Viper team/dodge and great era to be a car guy!

Pretty cool but these aren't factory options. Comparing apples to oranges.
On top of that the ecoboost in the new Ford gt will be extremely durable like the previous Ford GTs power train. Very mod friendly and durable.

Sometimes to much horsepower can be a serious disadvantage. If you can't put the power to the road and keep it there, you lose.

That's like comparing the TT FGT that has the record in the standing mile to the Hellcat.

The GT is supposed to compete at LeMans, a 900 hp fuel consuming Viper would not really pose a serious threat to the eco boost GT or a diesel/hybrid Audi, But Im sure it would dominate a two seat modified class full of 900 hp two seat Vipers

The company that is behind the supercharger kit, Arrow Engines, works directly with Chrysler to build and develop the engines that are found in the Viper. There is a strong possibility that it might be available later in the Gen V's lifespan. A mule(Not Chrysler's) is already out there

I honestly think it would be cool if dodge came out with an ultra viper from the factory, I don't doubt that is a possibility.

The blower. Pretty damn cool. This might not be factory but Dodge/SRT had a lot to do with it.

Thats so true.
The Cobrajet Mustang had been at a 200HP or more dissadvantage against the Mopar but the Cobrajet is much more consistent and quite often cleans up.

Cobrajet has 200 less than a drag pack?? I thought cobra jets were the most powerful of all 3.

How can you state that the new ecoboost pushing 600 HP or over will be that durable for the street? Racing is a different story and we don't and never will know 100% of what happens at the race track. The ford GT will be running on pump gas with a tiny motor, even smaller than the gtr's motor.
The previous powertrain was a badazz 5.4L V8 and that was durable.
The little ecoboost will be already living close to the edge from the factory and the upgrades will not generate as much power as the 5.4L did throughout the rpm range.

Ford needed to come out with a bigger motor imo, A V8 close to 6 liters of displacement or even 7 liter!

Let's wait, hopefully I am wrong. Love the entire ford GT but the engine.

What are you talking about, this car is being released to be a street car. Never mind what they are doing at the track, we drive at the street, we drag race, we race light to light, roll race etc...

Just look at the Audi R8 and the diesel setup for the track that won lemans, etc... They do not use that for the street because it makes no sense on doing so(too many variables to go wrong, exotic fuels are not available at the pump, etc...). They went with a well known lambo V10 engine instead as top of the line, just like what their most important car deserved. It worked fine for them

The Track has nothing to do with the street and ford should keep the ecoboost for their track duties and bragging rights only imo...
Let us drive a 7 liter V8 Ford Gt with all the technology they possibly can stuff into that thing.

A 900 hp viper is a nasty weapon for the street and with the right tires will spank this new ford GT if it really only comes out with 600-650hp.

600 Hp is so 2010 for supercars. I am not impressed, unless the ford GT comes out at 2500 lbs weight than I would be.

There is no technology that will overcome a 300 hp difference on a roll race since the viper is a very light car too.
I understand where ford is coming from with this car except the fact they are using the wrong motor.
Street is street and race is race.
