Hey all,

I have been a long time member and I am an authorized vendor, but specializing in the Gen 2 L community. As far as myself goes, I have a DMP built 2000 black Gen2 in the process of being rebuilt once again. My last build netted 550/620 SAE rwp that got me in the 11.6's@117 in the quarter, on 14#, 14*, 91 octane. It is a ten second truck no doubt. For my dd, I own a 1994 black Gen1 mostly stock with about 94,000 miles.

The reason why I am intorducing myself here, is because as of last night my father bought a 2005 Silver Ford GT with just a lil less than 1000 miles, (which my grandfather previously ordered and owned, he got it early in 2005 when MSRP was $143,xxx and he paid $252,xxx).

So I will be browsing the section on and off now and hope to learn more about these awesome vehicles, which first being all the recalls that still need to be taken care. IIRC, I think I read an article stating there are approx 10 recalls  ...

Oh an one more thing, my dad will now be selling all his hot rods since he has this GT that suites all needs lol. His life long dream car, his 1972 pre-L Detomaso Pantera with about $75,000 in mods, his 1934 Ford glass body kit car with a 355ci. mouse and 6-71 and about 2500 miles, and his 1966 CA Registered AC Shelby Cobra kit car with a 351ci Midland and about 2500 miles...

Here are a few pics below of his new GT and the cars he will be selling... Stan

Hmm me and my dad were not liking it. We wanted a either a black, with silver or grey stripes, or a grey with silver stripes...

But in all honesty, IMO the very best would be the originally copied light blue with orange stripes, that equals sex IMO...

I found out it has the $750 subwoofer/stereo option, $4000 tire option, and a $xxx? painted caliper optoin, as far as the paperwork says. I'll find out for sure in the next week or two when I go see it and go over all the paperwork myself lol... Stan

Well what do you guys think about this Oasis report? Any comments, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Also any info on the necessary recalls, I've been searching but have yet found the article or a single place that lists all the GT recalls. Thanks in advance, Stan

Not bad at all for a GT.

From what I see this car is of the first 499 ever built thus the Control Arm recall.

The issue of the speedo/ charger and battery was probably more than likely due to a bad Optima where somebody overcharged it and fried it. Once they are hit with a "boost" charge - they are gone. Gauges act strange. Charger won't top off battery. Speedo could have been the pick up but that is on the transaxle.

The hose clamps are also minor issues that I have had done also. The orginals were a one shot use it or loose it clamp. Factory techs would tighten, loosen and reposition the hoses and retighten the clamp causing them to fail over time.

The Supercharger belt fray???? I check mine weekly - no problem. more than likely an alignment/ pulley issue. Just have your dad keep an eye on it.

Other items are trim related it appears where the original owner didn't like the fit and finish and appears that the shop must of messed it up for a detail due to customer satisfaction.....

That sub woofer deal is part of the MacIntosh stereo option... cost on it alone was $4K+.

Most GTs have it, I wish mine didn't.

It's one of the few things on the car I don't like.

mardyn

btw. Love that Pantera!

Im going to go join the GT forum right now. My dad let me drive the car this last weekend. I was really impressed with the way it handles, the clutch, the acceleration, the manueverability, but most of all the shifting. The throw on the shifter is unbelievably short and very nice and firm feeling. I was just amazed about the transaxle and shifter.

The car brought a huge smile to my face and I can not wait until i talk him into modding it :D ... Stan

Off topic:

What does your pops want for the Pantera?

Unfortunately for him the Pantera market is really weak right now. Fully restored originals or A quality survivors are fetching 40k at most. So he'll need to find a DeTomasso enthusiast if he wants to come close to breaking even...(like me, tell him I'll trade him a 1970 Cougar!)

Congratulations to him on an excellent ride!

Any detailed pics of the Pantera? The market for them is definitely coming back.

Im not a 100% for sure on the Pantera, I know he has about $75k invested IIRC and I think I heard him mention he would take $60-65  ... I will try to get some good engine bay and other shots. I know it will come with the original 4 bolt main block with a new set of Milodon billet steel main caps and studs, with an extra set of heads, all the original parts he has etc. everything to do with the Pantera he has will go with it... Stan

Email me here if your interested and I will try to reply with info and pics so not to hijack the thread, wait this is my thread lol...

03Azroush, did you see us headed southbound or northbound? We left Rancho Santa Fe and were heading to my employers shop. On the way back, (northbound) I was driving woot woot... Stan

what color is that GT?

--Russ

That's Quick Silver Metallic. It was only available in 2005. Only 154 GT's were painted in that color, and only 16 were produced with no stripes.

My GT (#562) is also painted in Quick Silver Metallic. She's got the black painted racing stripes but thankfully no McIntosh stereo.

Congrats on the GT. FordGTForum.com is a must.

Best Regards,
waldo
