I was driving my truck on the freeway and the motor shut off. It started back up but ran rough. I drove it to a shop and they told me that i needed a valve job. Cylinder number 7 has zero compression. How much should this repair cost?

If you lost all compression on cylinder #7 or any cylinder for that matter, you need a new shortblock. Or if no serious damage was done and you're on a budget, just rebuild your existing block. Oh, and find a new mechanic or shop.

I bought a device to read compression. The findings by the mechanic are accurate. What concerns me is he wants $3500 to fix this truck. I am being told that the motor needs to be pulled out to do it right. I am at a complete loss here. i do not know if this is true or not?
The spark plugs did not launch out of the head. My truck is bone stock.
