I was driving my truck on the freeway and the motor shut off. It started back up but ran rough. I drove it to a shop and they told me that i needed a valve job. Cylinder number 7 has zero compression. How much should this repair cost?
dude i would take it somewhere else. if that happened to me and the first thing they said was i need a valve job i would run. is the service engine soon light on? if so get the code ran and BAM that will tell you in general whats wrong.
If you lost all compression on cylinder #7 or any cylinder for that matter, you need a new shortblock. Or if no serious damage was done and you're on a budget, just rebuild your existing block. Oh, and find a new mechanic or shop.
I bought a device to read compression. The findings by the mechanic are accurate. What concerns me is he wants $3500 to fix this truck. I am being told that the motor needs to be pulled out to do it right. I am at a complete loss here. i do not know if this is true or not?
The spark plugs did not launch out of the head. My truck is bone stock.
