It looks like the Nitto 555R II's (set of 4) shipped to my door, are going to run about $650 from Discount Tire Direct. Anybody know if they can be found for less anywhere else?

take your price quote to your local Discount Tire store and have them price match the Online price. I did that and saved the bother of having to transport the tires to a store.
I bought my last set for $160 each, you got a good price.
