I found it interesting that I was the only '03 Cobra at Milan today.
Everyone else must have them garaged for the winter. I'm a few
days away from that since I finally got a winter beater...'06 Dodge
Dakota 4x4. :-D

I believe I've reached the law of diminishing returns. I've done all the
power mods (19psi KB/nitrous/boltons yada yada yada). The problem
now is that I can't hook for shit. I'm literally running 1 full second
slower than when I had 460rwhp. I went a best of 11.29 back
then. :kaboom:

I know what my problem is though...those gosh damned Nittos.
They just can't handle any power. I can't spray it at all. I'm peddling
it all the way through 3rd gear...literally. The solid axle is in now it's time for
some 28" slicks and some skinnies up front. This same rear end has gone
1.27 60's in another car (non-'03 Cobra) so the potential is there.

I did however go 127mph on 16* of timing and 93 octane pump gas. :D

I'm done for the year. Next spring will be fun. I'm gunning for Vector!
Ok, maybe not.. :rolling: I think it's time for a built stroker motor.

Right on! Same here. That is why I decided to keep the Nittos as daily drivers and get some MT drags for racing. :burnout:

I was just talking to a friend today and I mentioned that I felt Nittos
are a great daily driver tire, but are only good for about 400rwhp
at the track. Well over 600rwhp definitely requires a slick. I'll
be running a MT Drag in the spring. It's kind of like wearing tennis
shoes on a ice rink on the Nittos.

Dan,

That sucks. That means that on the streets you'd lose against a SL65 AMG - maybe even an E55 AMG? It would take at least 450-600 RWHP to beat those cars and you're saying Nittos are only good for 400RWHP. Are there any other alternatives for the street? What about the new 335 Nittos? Or BFG's?

Doesn't matter the size of the Nittos...they are just not a soft enough compound to hook at the track or the street. They are the best as far as wear goes. Then the BFG drags...they are softer, but will wear quicker then Nittos. Then there is MT drag radials...best but wear quicker then you can snap your fingers from what I have read.

I am keeping my Nittos for my daily driver tires and then buying MT drags for the strip.

Nope...it sure doesn't. I've waxed 3 Ford GT's, many heads/cam Z06's,
turbo LS1's, nitrous LS1's, terminators, etc, etc, etc.

It's really about the compound and the tire height, not the tire width. BFG
and Nittos just can't handle over 600rwhp IMO. I'm talking about for
some serious hook.

AHH, ok I gotcha. You're talking about the car's front lifting a couple of inches come launch time ;-)

Still mostly stock except for the mods in my sig. I beat the crap out of a good looking black crossfire the other night on Woodward. I was behind him when we turned and as he opened up mid turn his car went a little sideways. I went after him and last time I checked he was about 6-8 cars behind. And he was on it! Nice looking car though.

I better mod it before the warranty expires ... that way if I blow anything I at least have a chance of getting it fixed - lol!

Only have about 11,000 miles on it so far. I'm putting it away for the winter this weekend.

How's your cute girlfriend doing? And congrats on your nice winter beater!

LMAO.
Glad you got a beater this year.

And I agree with you. You need to go to a ET street for the track if you want true consistant launches.
My MT ET drag radials were ok but I know they can't hang with my HP and it show in my 60ft times.
