I've done a few O/T's and AutoX events...nothing regular. I'd like to do a few more events this year and next. I've been running Motorcraft 5w20 blend since day one. My tech Q...
I have read that a major reason for bearing failure in the 4.6 is due to oil sequestration in the heads at sustained RPM and starvation in the bottom end. Wouldn't a lighter oil be better to eliminate the issue?

What weight and brand would you recommend if the 5w20 blend is not good enough for occasional (2-4x year) track events. Car's got 65k on the clock and it won't be a dedicated track car.

Can/should I go to full synthetic at this late stage ? I've heard changing late in a car's life can cause seal and gasket issues.

Thanks.

I would do a full synthetic 5w30 and change the oil every few events. A sample sent to Blackstone would be a good idea at each oil change for the next few changes. I would also run an extra 1/2 quart for your events.
