Ok, 99 IRS vs. 01 IRS. Specific questions...I know the basics...

Ok, I just bought what I think is an 01 IRS. I need to know exactly how to tell that it is an 01 though. I don't know what car it came out of as I am the 3rd if not the 4th owner (been in only one car though).

The IRS has some stickers on it but they seem just like bar codes and don't really hint at a date. Is there some stamping that makes it easy to tell?

Holy shit people. There HAS to be some way to verify if it has 31 splines from the exterior!!!

You're probably going to have to pull the half shaft and count splines. It's not hard. Just unbolt the two bolts that hold in the knuckle, unbolt the tie rod end, and slide the half shaft out.

01 = 31 splines, 99 = 28. I agree, pull halfshaft and count.

Roger that, I will report back this weekend with what I found. I think its an 01 but I did not see the "12 lb weight" under the front diff bushings and it made me worry.
