Not sure if this is the correct forum or not, so I apologize. I've been working out over the past 4 months in preparation for a new job to pass the physical. I've lost 30lbs so far. I was told I had till December to get my fat ass in shape. But they called last week and I have my test next Wednesday. I have to take a STEPS test, step up and down on a 12" step at 72 bpm for 3 minutes, heart rate can't go over 120 bpm. Anyone know of any OTC meds that could slow a heart rate??

Doubt it. Meds like metropolol for people with, interestingly enough, SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) aren't going to be available otc.

I've seen studies that L-Arginine reduces peak heart rate slightly but not sure how definitive they are. There is a lot of things attributed to it that I question. Also not sure it's a single dose thing or you have to use it for a longer period of time.
