Pads loose

I have a knocking noise when I apply the brakes in reverse.

Basically the brake pad has a spring clip to push the pads forward in the mount. This keeps them from rattling around.

When I apply the brakes. The pad want to go forward in the mount. It's already there. This is good.

When I apply the brakes in reverse. The pads will want to go rearward. Against the spring clip. Well it's just a tiny clip. Unable to hold the pad from going rearward. So the pad moves a 10 or 20 thou and hits the mount. If I push, release, push, release the brake pedal. I can hear the pad knocking rearward into the mount.

WTF?

Mine does the same thing but only in reverse too. When I go forward it does not make any noise. Live with it because you don't drive all the time in reverse :)

The noise is only coming from one side.

Switched the pads to the opposite side of the car. Quiet pair came to the left, knocking pads moved to the other side.

Definately a pad problem. More digging in the future.
