PAE’s first 2016 race weekend
NASA Great Lakes Mid Ohio April 22-24
Brian’s goal:
(2) race starts and (2) Time Trial starts (and hopefully wins) and work on improving the car
Paul’s goal:
Finish putting Paul’s 65 back together and get his head back into race mode (hadn’t raced since 2012 season)
Also (2) race starts and (2) Time Trial starts.
Got to the track after 11PM on Thursday
Friday track was dry but cold in the morning, rained mid day and dried up late.
Brian heat cycled a set of Hoosier slicks in the morning, ran his Hoosier H2O’s in the rain to get the mold release off, and heat cycled a set of Hoosier A7’s in the afternoon.
Brian, Russ and Paul spent all day finishing up the 65, seat, belts, diffuser, fire system etc, and Paul ran a couple of laps late in the day.
Saturday morning was cold with a slight mist in the air.
In the Thunder Race Group, Brian was fastest in morning warm up, qualified on pole by over 3 seconds, and dominated the race after a great battle with Aaron Quine, winning by 56 seconds in his Super Unlimited class and lapped all but 12 of the 56 starters.
In Time Trial Unlimited Brian finished first and Paul second .5 seconds behind. Nice father son 1-2 podium finish.
Sunday
In the Thunder race group, Brian skipped warm up, qualified on pole by 2 seconds, won by 31 seconds, and lapped all but 10 of the 52 starters.
In Time Trial Unlimited, Brian won again with Paul finishing 2nd.
All in all a great start to the 2016 season, accomplished all our goals for the weekend, and our PAE Mustangs were the 2 fastest cars all weekend.
A special thanks to Russ Foley for his help at the track. Running 2 cars at this level stretches what Brian, Maria, and Paul are able to do by them selves. Thanks again Russ, could not have done it with out you.
#KYLERSTRONG was on board with us this weekend, a fine young boy who fought a courageous battle with brain cancer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
Thanks to all our supporters and partners, Tim Lynch, Technitron, Hoosier Tires, Motovicity, Hawk Brakes, Brembo, Tial, Brisk spark plugs, Heatshield Products, Forgeline wheels, Wiseco pistons, Ford Performance, JJ at Ultimate Performance/JRI shocks, Dave Diehl at Hyper-Performance Motorsports, Ferrea, Optic Armor
