would you recon you spent more to build this than it would have cost to just buy an actual lightning?

If I remember correctly, he had a Red lighting.. Got into an accident, totalled. Bought a cheap F-150 and swapped the engine trans misc parts into it..etc etc.

Here's the reason:

Backstory: Let a younger sibling borrow my L and long story short, He fell asleep and drove it into a cement culvert totaling it. Couldn't afford another L right now so picked up a 97 2wd that is being converted into my old L.

paid $5200 IIRC for the 97 and bought back my L for $3200 which they took out of my ins payout.

so $8400

- $2600 for exhaust and heat exchanger
- $600 for a new rear end (bent in accident)
- $370 for powdercoating frame/suspension
- $150 for superduty trans cooler
- $220 for carpet
- 300 for ground effects
- 200 for bumper and grille surround
=4440

+ $660 for old 4.6
+ 250 for wheels
+ 120 for old mirrors
+ 150 for 8.8 rear axle
+ 150 for tailgate
+ ~230for old cat coverters and scrap metal
+50 for rear swaybar
+100 for old exhaust
+125 for sliding rear glass
=1835

So roughly $11k for a 97 F150 with a built bottom end with under 10k miles. I didn't include the price of all new ball joints/bearings/energy suspension body mounts. I was just anal and changed everything. I also came out even selling my hard tonneau for the soft cover, and selling my old wheels for the 03/04 L wheels. Take out the exhaust I splurged on and its under $9K.
