Ok I give up, I searched but couldnt find anything. What are the squarish plastic blocks at the back of the rear fender wells, are they needed? I assume it is something to do with vibration/sound---why in that location?
Sound control. I have a 99 Cobra. This question came up many years ago. I cannot remember the exact explanation and had forgotten about them, until this post.
I would guess some resonant sound needed abatement.
Thats what I had been assuming, but it doesnt make sense to me being in that location that it could be of any benefit?----------------Has anybody taken them off and were there any noticeable changes?
Could've been something to do with the exhaust. Like how the mufflers on the fox bodies were different sizes to cancel out some frequencies. Once you start changing exhaust it all goes out the window.
Took mine off and looked up the part number, its just a filler to protect the rear fender quarter panel somehow, it still doesnt make much sense, Im going to leave mine off for now, they dont weigh much. Here is one on ebay
