I have the 2.8 pulley on my cobra with stock idlers. My question is today when i raised the hood I noticed alot of belt dust and the paint is being rubbed off of the idlers is this normal or not. I just didnt want the belt to brake and me be stuck somewhere without a spare so my first guess is this is just normal wear

Personally I would visually inspect the edges of the belt and make sure there isn't any roughing of the edges. You can also run a finger on the ribbed side of the belt and see how much dust comes off on your fingers. You might just be experiencing belt slip.

Hopefully you installed a new smaller belt when you installed the smaller pulley.
The stock belt is much too big for the smaller pulley without the idlers.

yeah i changed the belt . The edges are fine i am sure its belt slip
