What pocket knives do you guys carry around? I currently have a Kershaw Leek that I found on the ground outside of a restaurant a few years ago. Great knife and I love the assisted opening but its dull as hell. Couldn't believe it when I found out it was a $60 knife. I havent really been carrying it lately because I just bought new suede Cobeau seats and I'm really worried the clip or thumb knob will rip the seat when its in my back pocket.

I want a new one now and since Kershaw quality seems to be really good and the assisted opening is badass, I'm probably gonna go with a similar knife, just a different blade style. This knife is about $60 as well, any other brands with similar features you guys recommend?

I carry a multitool from Buck Knives. It's a lot more useful than just a plain old knife and comes in very handy.

Yeah, thats not a bad idea. My baja team leader had a Gerber multi tool and the thing was high quality. Might get one for the car, but I'd still like to have a dedicated knife for those random times when you need one.

Sharpen the knife you have. The Kershaw is an excellent knife and will hold a good edge for awhile. Yours must have been used (or abused) alot to be dull. But if you really feel you need a new knife, Kershaw, Buck, Gerber, Case are all great knives along with several other brands I can't think of off the top of my head.

For the money I like the Kershaw Blackout. Its a little bigger/thicker than the two you show but I find it a LOT easier to handle.

Do any other companies have the index finger 'assisted' opening? Not too keen on opening with my thumb, but the quick flip is great.

If you want to spend a bit more money and get something a bit more bad ass, you can't go wrong with an Emerson. They have arguably the best blade metal out there right now which is s30v stainless steel which holds a scary sharp edge for a hell of a long time. One of my other hobbies is that I collect tactical knives most of which are folders.

Here's one of my many Emersons that I used to carry every day...

That's a higher end folder though, you'd probably be better off with an Emerson mini Commander or CQC-7, they are perfect for every day carry duties.

I have an old Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout .... It has been a good knife and it looks like the price on it now is much lower. Makes me want to get another one just like it.
