Point me in the right direction

So far all I have been doing to clean my car since I bought it was... Get the hose, spray down the whole car.. Get a Microfiber cloth and just wipe it until it's dried. Bird shit on my car all the time and I'm only using water and microfiber cloth to clean it all the time (it works but hey I'd love to wax my car)

I have NO idea how to wash a car properly/wax a car so can someone point me in the right direction to where I can buy like the soap to use, wax, etc and possibly in-depth steps to what to do? Thanks.
