How do people in their 20's afford 35K cars (and insure a Cobra)?

Or have I just gotten too conservative?

(Let's see: I bought an 86 GT brand new at 23 and it was $2,400/yr to insure in 1986...) and I just had to have it...

24 here. to answer the above question....you gotta bust your ass. bought my 90 GT when i was 17. insurance was'nt too bad because i didnt have full coverage. bought my 95 cobra when i was 18 and full coverage cost me $3400/yr ! got sick and tired of being raped by the insurance company so i paid it off and got liability. also purchased my house when i was 18. refinanced the house last year and used the cash to help buy my 1st 03 (vert for $28.5k) and traded it in to buy my current 03 for $25k
