I just replaced my OEM brakes with the Porterfield RS4 brakes from Van. Tightened everything up and took her out for a 20 minutes cruise. This was easy driving with one hard 3rd-4th gear pull with moderate to heavy braking (done within the 1st 5 minutes) to make sure everything was good.
As far as performance, the brakes do very well. When I pulled back into my yard I noticed a strong brake smell and very high amounts of heat coming from the wheels. This did not happen with the OEM brakes and I drove the car much much harder and used a lot more brakes. No smell.
Do these brakes run hotter than the OEM brakes, if so, should I be concerned?
For the Carbon Kevlar brake pads, is there a break in period with them?
