Is it possible to powder coat chrome rims? Or would it be easier to just buy "Hypercoated" rims and get those powder coated?

Also, if I were to buy rims for the 99-04 models, would these offsets still be ok on our cars?

18 x 10 rim with a +22mm (.87") offset for the rear

Backspacing: 6.27" (159mm)

18 x 9 rim with a +24mm offset for the front

Backspacing: 5.94"

I've also been reading something about changing the lugs for the car for 99-04 rims since ours are nonhubcentric, that it might need a certain spacer? Or would they bolt right up? Also, the 18 x 10 rim wouldn't stick out past the fender, would it?

I do not know all the rim/tire lingo. Is it the higher the number for the offset, the closer it sits in the wheel well? Or is it the other way around.

One more thing. How much does powder coating usually run? I know it is dependent on where you live, but I was wondering what average was.

I don't know about the powdercoating thing but I would not put the 99-04 wheels on the s197s. Reason is because the offset is so different they are going to stick out, especially if they are over 9+" wide.

That's why I ask. I see some people have done it.

the black GT with the chrome '03s and anniversary wheels is running 17x9s all the way around. if your gonna use a 99-04 wheel i wouldn't go any wider.

The first picture is running 18 x 9 at all four corners, as well as the white one below it.

The reason why I'm possibly resorting to 99-04 rims is they do not make the color/size for the 05+ that I want. I could buy this one made specifically for the SI97, but they are only 18 x 9 and I would have to get them powder coated black. The 99-04 are already black.

I know people personally that have ran 18x9 99-04 wheels on S197s and I personally don't care for the way they reach JUST beyond the wheel well.

That's the thing I really don't like either.

I guess I'll just go with 18x9's all the way around with the rims made specifically for the S197. I just need to find out how much it's going to cost to get them powder coated.

Thanks for the info!
