I'm not in tune at all with the Fox market, so i thought i would post this here and maybe get a bit of help, all i have owned in the last 7 years are Terminators. Anyway, I have an opportunity to pick up an '87 LX 5.0 from the original owner. It was bought from a local dealer here back in 1987, and it doesn't even exist anymore. Here's the basic scoop on the car...

The owner is a 68 year old woman
bought here and driven here (Abq, NM) so rust isn't an issue
never been hit
160,000 miles, good maintenance records
paint is red but faded, now looks reddish-orange.
interior also red and faded
100% original, never modified, and never raced for that matter
it is a 5-spd car

its going to need some TLC to make it look really nice. But like they say, "its only original once". She wants in the neighborhood of $3500-4000 for it. I have no idea what a fair price for a car like this would be. It looks like it would be a fun little 5.0 to tinker with.

is it a coupe or hatch? 3500 for a coupe is a fair price. and 160k miles on a car of that age is not alot imo. and the porno red int. with red ext. when its in great condition looks great. my friend has a 91 coupe with that color combo and i think it looks sweet.

Its a hatch. Its hard getting leverage with the old gal cause she's on the fence to even sell it, so I'm afraid that if I slash her price too much she'll just walk away from the deal. But its not that great of a car. Just hard to find stock and from the original owner.

On a side note, that black Fox on the link above is absolutely gorgeous, what a machine. Good job on that one.

Think of it from this perspective... how much money/labor will you be putting into it, add that to the selling price and then think would someone buy it? Will insurance cover it if it, God forbid, got totaled or stolen?
