1996 GT..... Short connector J4 on back of harness next to remote keyless entry module.

If you get lock/unlock then you are in program mode. If remote fails to program are you sure it is the right remote for this application, and are you sure it works or has a good battery??

I have heard that the RKEM has the ID numbers on the back of it. You may have to pull the panel, remove the mounting screws and pull it out to see if anything is on the backside.

I see several different remotes were available on this year, so I can only guess what yours is.

Can you post the ID numbers off the remotes you have?

Maybe we can narrow it down from there...........

GQ43VT4T is the correct one for a 1996 Mustang. It is shown as the one for the 94-98 Mustang.

Remote #1 and #2 is for a 2002-2005 Expedition.
3 Button #3 is for a 1999-2004 Escort.
4 Button #3 is for a 2000-2004 Focus.

You are shooting in the dark on finding the right one, right??

Get on e-bay and get the one Badass98svt posted. It is the right one.

Dave

ps. Look here......Remote Cross Reference

Handy chart for many makes and models ........
