I hadn't drove my car for a while and i went out for a little drive today. I saw a red Ferrari coming up and he drives by me and just took off. The road was clear so i catch up and he wouldn't slow down lower then 70-75 so we just did a 3rd gear pull and i pulled a few cars on him from 70/75-120/125. The guy was cool and gave me a thumbs up which i didn't expect lol.

The F430 features a 4.3L V8 petrol engine derived from a shared Ferrari/Maserati design. This new power plant is a significant departure for Ferrari: all previous Ferrari V8s were descendants of the Dino racing program of the 1950s. This fifty year development cycle came to an end with the entirely new 4.3L, the architecture of which is expected to replace the Dino-derived V12 in most other Ferrari cars. The engine's output specifications are: 490 PS (360 kW; 483 hp) at 8500 rpm and 465 N·m (343 lb·ft) of torque at 5250 rpm, 80% of which is available below 3500rpm. Despite a 20% increase in displacement, engine weight had grown by only 4 kg and engine dimensions have decreased, for easier packaging. The conrods, pistons and crankshaft are all entirely new, the four-valve cylinder head, valve heads and intake trumpets directly takes measurements from F1 engines, for better volumetric efficiency. The F430 has a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h).[citation needed] Ferrari also claims the car sprints from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.0 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than the old model.[5]

Thats a very lightweight car. Still, good kill!

You sure it wasn't a 360?

I've ridden in a 360 and from a roll they are insane thanks to the ridiculous redline and would be a good race with your 450whp cobra since they were rated 390 hp and 500 pounds lighter.

The 430 on the other hand is still 500 lbs lighter and 490hp and the same 8500 redline, I don't think 450whp in a 3700 lb car is going to put a few cars on that.

It is hard to tell the two apart too, but I'm guess it was a 360, still none the less good kill!

I think they trap around 119 but that's just a guess. I'm sure they are quicker on the top end vs the 1320.

Insideline full test of a 2005 f-430 had it trapping 120+, the later models a few more mph.

Torque torque torque. People always overlook it and get hung up on horsepower. The Ferrari has 343lb ft at the crank and the cobra has about 540.

At a drag strip that would matter much more, rolling at 75, not so much.

Not sure what is wrong with beating a 360 anyway...

i would think the extra torque would help move the cobras extra weight and help move through the building wind resistance.

I know the difference between the 2. I'm sure it was a 430. It was a street race so maybe the guy didn't drive too good? It was fun though.
