Quick question about fuel filter

I get how to change it but, do I pop the fuel cut out in the trunk and let it run until it dies then change it or does it matter?

Kill and wait 3mins. (releives the pressure)
Pop the lines loose and replace filter
Turn Key to ON position wait a 5 seconds and repeat twice.
Crank Vehicle (may take a second or 2 longer than normal)

Or you can put a rag over the Schraeder valve on the fuel rail and push the valve stem in w/a small screwdriver.
