Here's my brother... Lexter (half pug half cocker spaniel). He died December 18th, on the day of my graduation. My whole family came down to Virginia Tech to see me walk, so he passed away alone. He lost his appetite the day before and my sister's bf (a doctor) was taking care of him while we were away. He said that my dog's jaw was kind of locked, so he suspected that Lexter had a minor stroke. We tried to get back to him but the snow storm kept us stranded for 2 days.
Lexter was 14 years old. He had a long life, but he's always had struggles along the way. He was on thyroid medication (hypothyroidism) and had some skin problems. Through it all, he persevered. That's why his death was so sudden to all of us. A fighter till the very end, this Christmas will be hard without him.
Sorry we weren't there by your side, boy. I'll miss you, and no dog will ever be able to replace you. Until we meet again.
Here we are in 1995. I was 8 and he was 6 weeks old.
Lexter's first snow. 1996.
Lexter at 2 years.
Lexter at 5. He's got that 'human' look to his face in this picture.
More recent pics of him.
