Im wondering how long 100 octane out of the pump can sit in my gas tank and still be effective.

I put 5 gallons of it in my cobra for my shop to drive and dyno tuning purposes, but modifications are taking longer than expected and the 100 octane has been sitting in the tank for like 2 months now.

Im dyno tuning specifically for 100 octane, with a KB 2.8 set up for 20-21lbs and all supporting mods. and if that fuel has gone bad, i could blow the motor and be WAY set back.

is 2 month old race fuel ok for dyno tuning or should we drain the tank and re-fuel when were ready?

thanks a lot for any info guys.

typical 100 (which i run sunoco 100 unleaded and did significant research on it)....in a vented container (like gas tank) it will only lose 1 octane over 1 year. so after a year of sitting vented, it will be 99. no octane loss in sealed container.

93 octane, conventional gasoline, loses octane at a much faster rate
