I am looking for suggestions/recommendations on a radar detector for my new vehicle (due at the end of this month). Please let me know your thoughts and comments plus any pros/cons of particular models. Thank you!!

Passport 9500ix or 9500ic. Done. I absolutely love mine. I had a V1 but it was constantly going off with false alarms. When you go past a false signal 3 times with the escort it will lock it out at that GPS location. Or you can do it manually. When the escort goes off, there is cop nearby. Over hills, around curves and long distances. The thing is amazing. I am a former cop, and my wife is currently a police officer, I can tell you first hand, the 9500 series is the best!

My V1 goes off constantly too. It has almost become part of the background noise to me, plus it has a really annoying series of sounds every time I start the car. The only advantage to the V1 is that it has a rearward and forward facing antenna.

I'm going to give the Escort a shot as recommended by IceMan5000.

Above all, be safe if you are going to bang the gears. I try to be.

I love my passport 9500xi...workin great after 4 years. I make fun of my friends V1 and call it a "McDonalds detector" as it will reliably lead you to the golden arches every time...picking up their x band signal from the cookers.

Does anyone know if the plug in the dash of the gt 500 cuts power after a while once car off? I love that my gti does this right after ignition off so I can leave my passport plugged in at all times in it. Worried about draining my battery in the gt 500, but one time I left it plugged in and the device power was off after car sat an hour or so...

The K40 is a good one but a bit more pricey and it is built into the car. A remote with wifi.360degree protection and deflection. They may be illegal in some states but some Ford dealers will install them from an outside vendor.

Get a rogue mount. Plug it in to your rear view mirror. 10 minute install, turns off with the ignition. No cord dangling from the dash. No splicing wires.

No doubt! I have it's cousin the Bel GX65. Plus you get red light camera warnings and can set the GPS for known speed traps. There is no point owning anything else.

Yes another 9500 owner. Using escort live with it and am happy. Saved me a ticket just this last weekend.

escort redline with blendmount.

+1

This is the exact same setup I run. I'm an Escort dealer and had a chance to try many different options over the years from various manufacturers, including Blinder and Valentine. I'm certainly biased, but Escort is by far the best that I have found.

If you can swing it, the 9500ci (the fully integrated/installed version) is really the way to go with the laser diffusers, but this setup goes for about $2K installed. (The system itself without install has an MSRP of $1,695). Too price prohibitive for some, but a truly amazing setup if you can swing it.

If you are running around in a metro area most of the time you may want the window-mount 9500ix as it has a better filter system for false alarms than the Redline does. However, out on the open highway the Redline is the best because it uses the more expensive radar detection module that the 9500ci (the $2K installed version) has.

If you search the posts during the last two weeks, Farmboy posted a link to a discount code that you can use for 15% off a new Rogue mount. (This is basically the same as the Blend mount- might even be made by the same manufacturer, but at a slightly reduced price).

If I can help with anything from the Escort line let me know and I will give you a break.

Passport 9500 ix

one of the inevitable funny things that eventually happens is that you're cruising through a parking lot someplace with the windows down, you've got your mind on other things, don't think to hit the 'mute' button and some LEOs are gathered for a call or whatever reason, while you drive past and the female voice is loudly going,......... "KA BAND". yup: there's a guy to remember

Where is this rogue mount you speak of? I plan on getting a 9500xi (the ci is too much for me) but I hate the dangling cords and stuff so this sounds like a good setup for me. Thanks
