WTF is the deal. Why are some painted and others are not? Weren't these painted on an assembly line? It seems very few are painted completely. Fortunately I am a lucky one.

cool.. so i removed it.
Cleaning underneath was a @#$@#$3. I am gonna have to clay bar that whole thing.
I ended up putting rags, towels, whatever i could find on top of the engine and just hosing the thing down.
I might take my messed up hood blanket to ford and see if they can give me a replacement and put it back on.
we'll see what happens..

Well, you allready did the cutout, so they will not replace it. I originally had water damage then I did the cutout, then I tried to replace it. I was not thinking:bash:

I am having my underside repainted with the warranty, due to "factory defect".

after removing my blanket, the underside of the hood has 2 or 3 small pieces of tape and it looks like it was cheaply spray painted with about 1/2 can of paint.

ah well, who ever looks under there anyway! :lol1:

I am happy to say they are SAE.

They were 437 STD.:mj:

For some reason, it seems that only the black cars were painted on the underside.

Mine is painted fairly well and it's not black.

BTW, if you look real close you can see that the pulley cover is covering the third idler. ;-)

OK- If you remove the hood blanket, are there any risks of engine heat damaging the finish on the outside of the hood? I had a couple of buddies tell me that with metal hoods this can be a problem Vs a fiberglass hood. You guys have done it...i figure you'd know best.

is the painted and unpainted problem color specific? if one redfire is painted should we figure the other r/f should be too?

I left my blanket on for heat reasons as well as listening to am at the track (mason dixon announcer is broadcast short distance on am, so you can hear whats going on while waiting/staging)

but when I took it off for the hood mod, it was compleatly painted on the underside and no tape...

Perhaps it goes by production time (aka, Mine was at the end due to it being a 10'th ann)

Oh, forgot to mention.. its Silver
