OP, you on any medication? Anything at all?
Tell them..I suffer from sleep paralysis also. Now more than ever it’s been better though. I have minor case of sleep apnea and would snore. Although, Even then with the breathing machine I’ve been severely ****ed with. The dreams I have are at mid point where I’m awake and fully know what’s going on. Very hard to describe. My worse case was with the breathing machine on.
For instance, I’m asleep and my wife is next to me. I feel her scoot over and start to rub my side under the blanket, touch my leg and my stomach. I then tell her... Selina, what are you doing up so late. It’s pitch black and she’s kinda under the blanket foolin around. I thought to myself maybe she’s hot and bothered meh Whatever
Although,
It’s not in her nature to “play”’around at that time of night. Usually, it’s earlier or before bed. Anyhow, no response when I asked her the question, weird I said to myself. So I let her continue but then she laughed. Now, this wasn’t your normal laugh either. It just didn’t sound like my wife. Something was off. No demon sound just off. Now I’m really Looking over for my wife, best as possible, squinting and all, I also grab to feel if my wife was there. Sure shit she was laying there sound asleep while I’m gettin ****ed with. I look over to see what the **** this is but whatever was there laughed and gone!
Talk about the most ****ed up feeling something playing tricks on you in such a manner you think it’s your wife.
I immidetialy woke her up and told her what happen.
There’s some ****ed up shit out there Man. I used to be a holy man but I don’t practice much anymore or go to church. I do have faith tho.
I believe some of the dead never rest. Some either are locked or lost. I have plenty more shitty stories but pressed on time.
Link to reputable scientific paper or this something found on reddit? Many would agree with you, however quantum research has been redefining our conception of “real”.
I personally enjoying thinking outside of the box. It can be labeled as hocus pocus or whatever you like but quantum theory simply explains things like dreams, ghosts, or anything “supernatural” that have never been able to be understood before.
I forget which topic was tied to dreams specifically. Some notable topics include string theory and entanglement.

Why does a processor need to recieve signals? Its a processor, it processes... All it needs is a self contained power supply. Check. Until someone can physically prove/show a form of signal that our brain is receiving then I can't help but not follow.Neither, this is just the way that I think. The unsettling part is there are actually people who agree with me (links to follow, whether you consider this scientific or not is up to you).
I realize my original post seems vague and random. My point in bringing this up is that in situations like the OP is talking about it has been my experience that I am unable to accept a face value explanation. I can not just write it off to one thing or another. The concepts I am bringing up have helped me to understand and get through some things I otherwise could not. Let me elaborate.
Your comment about the brain making anything seem real through chemicals and electricity I actually agree with. But if you consider the brain as a processor then the question arises to where the signals it is receiving are coming from. If the theory of a multiverse is true then it is also theorized that the dimensions can clash or bleed into one another.
Let set the gauge of "real/reality" as the majority of people process a certain signal a certain way. This does not necessarily mean that if someone interprets a signal differently than the majority it isnt real. It is only different RELATIVE to the norm. I could link several psychological studies and experiments that both prove and disprove this but for the sake of the argument lets roll with it.
I mentioned parallel universes as an explanation for mental illness. Here is a pretty good explanation of what I am talking about:

My opinion: When you are asleep your the state of your processor (brain) changes which in turn changes signals you can receive.
This could explain things like the OP is talking about as well as deja vu. Do I think this encompasses all dreams? No.
Example: You lost your keys today. You dream of searching for your keys that night
vs.
what the OP is talking about or deja vu dreams

As I said before, diving into this kind of stuff has helping me try to get a understanding of things when I could not accept a face value response. I believe there are two kinds of people in this world; those who question their reality and those who fight the maintain the one around them.
Neither can disprove the other with complete certainty. I believe quantum theories lean in my favor though.
I want to visit @Outlaw99A few questions should be asked:
1.) Do you live near Outlaw99?
2.) Have you ever been in his house?
3.) Are you currently trying to help him rid his home of demons and what ever else is spooking him?
4.) Do you have a ouija board?
..wowNeither, this is just the way that I think. The unsettling part is there are actually people who agree with me (links to follow, whether you consider this scientific or not is up to you).

You say when, and I will take a trip to the mountains.
Billions of years of evolution creating chemical processes that have led to extremely advanced instincts that our brain creates.Signals are functions of one or more independent variables that carry information.
I think youre getting caught up in semantics. Call it a signal, an input, an output or whatever. What is the point of having a processor is your not giving it inputs and doing something with the outputs? The brain communicates via electrical impulses, aka a sound wave vibrating your ear drum and sending the signal to the brain to process.
What's fascinating is that his explanation ties into what many Christians believe about the supernatural or those who are in tune with the spiritual realm. I believe most of science is just discovering God's creation so it would be no surprise to me for science to discover this answer someday.Billions of years of evolution creating chemical processes that have led to extremely advanced instincts that our brain creates.
Either way, I think your ideas are extremely faciniating and would be very cool to see proven. I hope people do persue it because that is science.. however I do not believe I am caught up in any semantics I just like to think I am a realist. I see people always searching for a "greater answer" when I believe life is the result of extreme probability and luck and theres really nothing more to it (sheer vastness of the universe) . I have zero agenda to prove.
I think me and you are too far apart in belief to even have this discussion lolWhat's fascinating is that his explanation ties into what many Christians believe about the supernatural or those who are in tune with the spiritual realm. Spirits operate on another realm that intersects at times with ours. They can manipulate but we cannot by our own will.

Once the ghost stories fly im out
I do not.
Spirit guides are not good to mess with man. Everyone has their own beliefs obviously but I had a very vivid dream when I was 14 that I still remember piece by piece to this day. I spoke to a family friend who was a doctor and councelor and he unveiled the meaning of it to me.I was never a church or spiritual guy until my father died. Long story short, I found that I became spiritual. Not so much in the sense of God and Jesus but in the sense of spirits. I find that if I pray, talk, think to my spirit guide and ask for good sleep or to get bad spirits out of the way that it usually happens.
Give it a try. Talk to your guides for 30 seconds before bed and ask them to help you with whatever you think you need help with. If your experience mirrors mine, you'll see a turn around.
Good luck.
