havent been to this board in awhile,so i thought i would stop by and give an update. This past fall i completely tore down my 95 cobra and basically restored it.Started by stripping everything off the car, chassis wise, that i could, then procedded to strip the floors down to bare metal, cut off the sub-frames,and reinforce the frame rails. Then moved to the engine bay where i filled all the unused holes with weld and sanded them down as well. While all this work was going on the rear end and all related components went out for powder coating,as did the entire exhaust system, and turbo system. Also at this the time the motor was tore apart for a refresh and delivered to RGR for that work to be done. While all this was being done the florrs and engine bay were painted by a close friend of mine, and reassembly began.Using the evap lines and fuel lines from an 03 cobra the fuel systems where installed, the rear end was reassmebled and installed as was the motor which recieved higher compression, and a larger cam shaft and an aluminum oil pan,the heads were treated to new valvesprings and shaftmount rockers.Finding out that something went through the motor and destroyed the turbos was disheartning and forced me to upgrade to a set of dual ball bearing turbos from innovative which were then bolted up.The intake was machined by a friend for 2 sets of injectors 24lb/hr pimaries and 83 lb/hr secondaries and was welded by myself the sent for fresh powder coat,as was everthing else in the engine bay that could be.The ECU was updated from a FAST unit to a BS3 with staged injection, hence the reason for 2 fuel systems.

Well if you got through all that there is only a little left to do before shes running again.here are some pics, the first set you have to click on individualy the second you can click on one and it will bring you to the whole slide show and you can pick next or previous....enjoy

I too am happy to see this level of teardown, refinish and reassembly, This level is seldom seen, and it looks GREAT! But I am confused about the term "restoration"?

When the term or discription "restoration" is being used for a car, it usually means back to the exact, or as close to exact way that it left the assembly line. Original "as it was at the dealership when new" everything, either with N.O.S. parts or reconditioned original parts, no mods. There are different levels of restoration, but all point back to the way it was when new, again, no mods.

sorry for the wrong use of the term"restoration"i thought that the "tt" in the title of the post would have given away the fact that it wasnt actually a resto, dont really know what other term could have been used to explain what i was doing

Great start, danimal 95. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Dan, you're doing what a lot of us would like to do, money permitting. Personally, I sold mine because I didn't have the money to do what I wanted to do, and just couldn't bear to drive it looking the way it did. I had mine for about three years, and loved it to death ... it only let me down one time (dead battery), and I really miss it. Good luck with the rest of it.

No problem, I did not know what the "tt" was refering to. I got excited for a moment, I thought you were restoring a 95 Two-Top (t.t.) Cobra. Like I mentioned, you are going far beyond what many/most of these cars will ever see. It looks great!
