Yo - I am thinking of a new rider. 42 inch deck is probably best. Honing in on a Deere x350 or a Kubota. Any others I shoudl consider at ~5k price point? Thanks

We bought our parents(hers) a Craftsman and it broke almost instantly. Replaced with a John Deer and they have loved it for years.

I'm a huge zero turn guy. I would look for something with suspension next time. It really just depends on how much you need to cut. I have a Cub Cadet semi commercial, but would look at X-Marks too. Saw a couple of Ferris units on the trailer repair place in out complex that look awesome. I need to research them, looked like Kawasaki engines which is a must for me.

I like my S140. Bought it a year ago for $2799 from Lowes. I have a 48in deck, which is overkill for my yard. I’ve only put 8 hours on it in a year which tells you how big (small) my yard is.

Really like my cub cadet ZT1 54. Put a suspension seat thing on it and it was a game changer. Kind of wish it had a steering wheel so I could hold a beer, but whatever. I cut about 1.5 acres with it.

When I have to replace it whatever I buy will have suspension.

I have ~360 hours on my John Deere LA115, accumulated over 13 years. It cuts nice, I don't like using it, and has been relatively reliable. I've been thinking about getting a new mower. I question how much money do I really want to spend on cutting grass. I keep arriving at "as little as possible".

I'll probably buy a new deck for this old one and keep wearing it out or walk into my local JD dealer and request again the cheapest model with a 42" deck, hydrostatic transmission, and mulch/side/bag tools.

As mentioned, do not look at Scag, or another commercial unit. You will want one, but will blow out your budget.
