If you are going to own the most track-capable Mustang ever built, it’s probably a wise strategy to get some performance driving instruction. Fortunately, as we recently told you, Ford is giving owners of the 2015-2016 Shelby GT350 and GT350R some free driving instruction courtesy of the Ford Performance Racing School based at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, Utah.
“GT350 is a car that needs to be experienced on a closed road course,” said Jim Owens, Ford Performance marketing manager. “The program is designed for owners to learn how to get the most out of their car so they can appreciate the unique performance Shelby GT350 delivers, while also gaining driving skills and experience. It’s going to be a ton of fun.”
Like most performance driving schools the GT350 Track Attack curriculum is designed to hone the GT350 driver’s skills, including braking, shifting and cornering techniques. However, the instructors will focus on the maximizing what the Shelby GT350 and GT350R’s driving dynamics have to offer.
“Regardless of a person’s driving ability, this will be an unbelievable experience,” Dan McKeever, president, Ford Performance Racing School, said. From the weekend track warrior to the car collector, this program provides the skills needed to really enjoy Shelby GT350 Mustang in the environment for which it is designed.”
That environment is the racetrack and you will have to transport yourself out to Utah and grab a hotel to participate in the complimentary GT350 Track Attack, which kicks off with an evening reception the night before the one-day performance driving school.
If you own a GT350 you won’t want to miss this opportunity. Head over to the GT350 Track Attack site to get more information. You’ll want to sign up soon, as the classes begin in April and some have already filled up. If you plan to attend, you can sync up with other SVTP members headed out to Utah by visiting this thread on our forum.
Take it from us, one day at the Utah Motorsports Campus won’t be enough. You’ll want to stay longer and that is an option. You can pay to extend your stay and continue your on-track education in one of the Ford Performance Racing School’s race-prepped Boss 302s or Mustang GTs.
Ford Performance Racing School instructors will provide instruction in the classroom and on the track in the school’s own fleet of Shelby GT350s, so don’t worry about bringing your own car. However, you are encouraged to bring a guest to watch you enjoy your Track Attack experience.
