Cobra turbo system

A daily driver turbo car is not hard to do. There are a lot of people out there who drive their cars to work every day and take them to the track on the weekends. Driveability of a turbo car is very good and they make ridiculous amounts of horsepower and torque. Check out these turbocharged Cobras:

Here's a link to the system on these cars:

I had a turbo on my 90LX and it drove fine and i lived where the temp would get 100+. I do think turbos are alot better. I have drove Vortech cars and Paxton cars and i enjoyed my Turbo car most of all and it had a big turbo on it. The 1 thing i didnt like to to much was it was quite and i got picked on all the time. If you like the muffler sound then a turbo is not for you but if you like power then go with a turbo.

With the newer style high-flow mufflers, the sound is very nice and throaty and when the turbo spools up and starts to whistle, there is no better sound out there......

Check this HP TT installation out.....

2002 Mustang GT (forged engine)

720 rwhp 651 rwtq

Tim (owner of T&J Performance of Atlanta) and his crew (and Jimmy from HP) recently dynoed this car in their shop. Here's what Tim had to say:

"We just finished a long day of tuning a HP twin turbo charged 2 valve Mustang. We are out of fuel and this kit/car has a lot left in it. C&C Tuning from Quebec, Canada brought the car here for us to tune. J immy from HP turbo is present. Car just laid down 719.38 rwhp and 651TQ with 20psi and only 16 degrees of timing.

Congrats HP Turbo........

The cool thing is the car has simple heads only flowing 225 cfm. Riechard racing intake to top it off.

They are going to install a larger pump, our heads and bring it back. I really think we can go 800rwhp no problem.

Congrats to all involved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The car was tuned using SCT software........

Full boost quickly. They spool up fast. It is soooooooooooooo cool sounding on the dyno. - Tim Barth, T&J Performance"

Let's say a guy had a relatively stock 1989 mustang GT(not talkin bout a cobra, sorry guys) .. and he wanted to put a turbo kit on it. What mods would you have to do before you put the kit on. Or would you not need to mod anything, pull the motor and throw some forged shit in it?

Stock block Turbo Mustang

People do kits on their bone-stock cars all the time. You don't really need to do anything to it before putting on the kit as long as you understand the limitations of the stock short block. These engines make about 220 hp in stock form and with a 60mm turbo on a well-engineered kit, you will more than double that output. Although the 60mm turbo will support about 600 rwhp, most people don't recommend you exceed about 450-475 rwhp unless you want to build up a forged short block, at which point you can do just about anything you want. Here's a link to the kit HP builds for your car:

Heres some links to a couple of stock short-block cars for you to look at:

This car (above) made its first run after installing the Stage I kit at 10.56 @ 131 mph. Here's another one:
