skips/chokes under load

Asking a question for a buddy of mine.

I've changed out my plugs and cleaned the maf sensor and still getting a terrible..I don't know what to call it..it skips or chokes under a load like its not getting enough air. thanks in advance.

If it is not throwing any codes then I would look at the ignition coils.
