OK...here's the deal....a buddy of mine is gonna get his cousin's 2000 SL600 in 2 weeks for a couple of days...He has been talking A LOT of crap saying that he will piss and shit all over my cobra. He wants to race me from a roll at 50mph. Do you guys think i have a chance of beating him?? I think I do but I'm not too sure...what do you think....oh yeah..it's a rag top too...p.s...im bringing a video camara...

You will get smoked. The thing is faster than a viper. Start modding.

He'd beat you from a roll or a stop. But then again...it's not always about who wins. He may win, but you've got an extra $100K in your wallet!

No he doesn't... cause if he did, he wouldn't be driving an 03 cobra. :burn:

Back to the race, you would need the basic performance upgrades to win. I think Treynor has one or a similar one that runs 118 - 120 mph in the 1/4-mile. His may have a couple of upgrades though.

Just look at the 1/4 mile time on the site machncobra posted. 11.9 @ 120 stock. Frankly, you don't have much of a chance without a good deal of modding. You'll probably need an aftermarket blower to put a little hurt on him. On the bright side, I doubt the MB will ever be modded too much. I'm betting the aftermarket is smaller, and parts will be damn expensive.

Guys, you missed the point. He said a 2000, SL600, not a 2004. The 2000 SL600 was no dog but is NOT the same car as the 2004 SL600. The 2000 had a 389-hp 6.0-liter dohc 48v V12.

I ran a 12.0 with my Cobra after installing a 2.80 upper, CAI, chip and full Bassani exhaust. On street tires. 1.92 60 ft. I put BFG drag radials on and went 11.89 at 120.00. Good luck. Depends on driver !!

I'm here...but the question has been answered. The only way the 2000 SL600 can win is if the cobra started in 5th gear @ 50.

Yea i think most people were thinking about the new TT versions. I dont think the older (2000) version would have a chance...
