Snow Perf controller problem?

Noticed today that the LED's weren't coming on when getting into it. Thankfully no WOT runs.

So doing some trouble shooting:

Step 2 Test LED vs. Pump On
Apply a 12v source to pole #87 of relay (single red wire, not red/green
wire). Pump should activate and LED should go on. Check LED ground
and wiring if no activation. If wiring and ground check out okay, check
LED with 12v source.

Taking a 12v straight to pole 87 of the relay does nothing but make the pump make a faint thunk sound, and the LED doesn't come on.

However, running power straight to the pump itself turns itself on and I'm assuming the LED comes on?

Do I have a bad controller?

I did some more testing today, I put the "START" voltage on the lowest setting, and as soon as I started the car the LED came on and the pump engaged. So that tells me the controller is working.

So my next question is, could it be the cold dense air? Its 41F here or under 5c for the time being. So maybe the denser air is messing with the MAF? And making it not read the voltage needed to trip the controller?
