So i started my car this morning and heard tap tap

It was tapping for a few min while ideling and then it went away. Any idea what is up with this motor? Its has never done this befor. Will i need a rebuild? (this will give me an excuse to get a built motor)

Have you checked your oil level? Mine did the same and my oil was just a little low. Good Luck...

Yeah i checked it and then i tried changing it and it still does it.

Mine started to do that a while back. Then I put some lucas synthetic oil stabilizer in when I changed the oil (5w30 mobil 1), it has not done it since. I do agree that what you are hearing is piston slap. It is normal thing to happen in these motors.

Can you locate where the sound is coming from? This happen to me once, it turn out to be the serpentine belt.
