Hello GT500 owners. I've been running through your forum and trying to gather some mod data on this car. I have an 01 Lightning right now and I'm heavily considering upgrading to a GT500. I've had the Lightning for 3 years now and its a blast. I would only imagine the GT500 would be even more fun to drive!

My main question is how much money would I need to put into a Stock GT500 to reach the same speeds. My truck is putting down close to 600rwhp now and running mid to bottom 11s (my numbers below are not up to date).

From what I've been reading 07-09 Stock will put down about 430-450rwhp.

Looks like the common ground is doing some pulley work, tune, and headers but where is that gonna land? 500? 525? 550?

I'm nearly convinced if I can get a GT500 into the 500-525rwhp range easily and cost effectively I will be ahead of the truck due to this not being a brick in the wind!!

Thanks for any input

I'm at the standard 535rwhp and 520rwtq. This was achieved from simply doing the 2.6" pulley, Coldair intake, custom tune and axleback. This is just about the standard for GT500 owners first mods. No headers needed. On street tires I was able to run a 12.0@122 with a 2.1 sixty.

Your looking at about $1,000 to get to the 540-550 range. Upper pulley, intake, and a good tune. I bought most of my stuff used, spent less than $1k, and went 11.67 on stock 19" tires. Mods are below.

My friend (Snake500 in here) went 10.80 last year with upper pulley, cai, headers, lower control arms, and slicks. We were at the track last Saturday, and he made 3 passes, all 10.9x On one of the runs he traped 130mph!

Headers are hard to install and fgrom what i have read not worth the hassle unless you went TVS. I went to JLT to get my CAI and Pulley. I have all stock exhaust and dynoed 556 h/p I really need to do suspension now I would pick up about 25 more with the L&M 66mm throttle body
