I've read and reread all the old threads concerning the AFS wheels and what tire fits how with this and that modification but I am still not finding the answer I need.

I'm just wanting to know what the widest tire that will go on the 17x10.5 afs rims are that will not throw my speedometer off an ungodly amount and will not force me to use a spacer or grind my IRS bolt. :) - I don't ask for much...

I believe any tire over a 295 will require the bolt grind. I have 315 Yoks (very wide cross section and ground patch) on AFS 10.5. I had to grind the bolt head a little. Did not have to install the spacers.

Depends on the tire and the ride height of the car.
Stock ride height on mine...had to grind the bolts to get 285/40's to fit on the 10.5's.

Hmm, is there any more width that is gained safely by using the 18x10.5 wheel instead? What about the Kumho Ecsta MX's in the 295/35 variety? Can they be run without spacer or grinding?

Thanks for the quick responses all, these answers will determine which wheel size and tire I go with.
