Speedboat Crowd

Looking for a speedboat that will will fit up to eight people, outboard only, and run with the fastest out there. Looking for 30 feet or less (or close to).

The uses for the boat will be cruising the bay to running the beach in the ocean.

The boat has to be able to cut the chop, ride solid in the swells, and be bone dry (Not sure if that's possible with a speedboat this size), were transitioning from a 41 Viking. Skater and Superboat have been a few that caught our eyes.

Any recommendations would be great, thanks guys!

I couldn't say, it's the only cat I've ridden in, but at 80+ mph on Lake Havasu in the chop it felt like we were flying above the water. At low speeds (40-60) your ass takes more of a pounding then the new guy at San Quentin. Skaters are sick! I don't know much about outboard speedboats, but that I know about the Skaters.

Personally, I would go with a cigarette type boat, but it doesn't fit in with your outboard requirement.

Question: Why an outboard boat only?

We live on Long Island (NY) the bays around here are anywhere from 3 to 15 feet. We like the idea of the outboards as to not run into depth problems (You can imagine what it was like the the Viking) and of low maintenance/weight savings and simplicity.

Wellcraft Scarab Sport is an open boat that can be outfitted to seat 8. It has a deep V hull that handles the North Atlantic chop well. With twin Yamaha F250BTXR Four Stroke High Power on there it will scream.

I had my Scarab Sport when I lived in NJ and brought it with me to Florida. I sold it to a friend down here since I wasnt using it much.

You will love it.
