Ok so i just got a 140 mph speedo out of an 89 ssp 5.0. I always here that just swapping the 85 for a 140 speedo will cause no problems as long as its coming out and going into an 87-89 (my cars an 88). Well i got the cluster all opened and swapped my 85 for the 140, got it half back together and went for a drive. When i go 25 mph its telling me im doing 40. I thought it was a straight swap? It seems like i need a new speedo gear?
My car has 3.73 gears WITH the red 21 tooth speedometer gear in it already. Its almost like its an 85 mph speedometer with a 140 mph overlay on it.
