Guy is trying to sell me his Sunbeam Tiger.
It has been sitting in his basement for over 10 years.
Was running when parked.
Is a Mark II, 1967.
Flex brake lines have collapsed, has new ones.
Convertible top only, I think.
Unrestored.
Not wrecked.
Cam has been changed to mild street, flat tappet.
Heads are not original, now has later model 289.
I have too many projects, I will never finish, but cannot walk away from this. I have told my sons, it will be a good investment?
I think I can get it on the road, with little work and money.
I am 75 Y O. have a shop with 2 lifts, full of cars now, home is full with my truck and extra vehicle outside. I have an off property site, I can move one of the other cars to get it in the shop.
Price is high and he is a tough guy to deal with, more than 20K.
What do you guys think?

My dad would probably be all over that. He has late 60s MG that he restored and and then bought another one, but I know he has an affinity to the Sunbeams. Values on the British roadsters has been gradually climbing so you'll probably make money off it just by doing minimal work to it.

Get it. Never lose money on that. I remember a guy used to road race one with tiger stripes on it. Jesus that thing was bad as hell.

Joe, there's several Tiger Owners websites out there. Here's one.

Here's another source for valuation, Hagerty.
Although, I'd think the numbers you get from an owners website like the one listed above would be more legit. You'll probably have to register as a user to see their blogs.

Anyway, here's Hagerty:

I see them at the track quite often. Try to work down the price, it's been apart and sounds like boxed up for a good amount of time.

Go check it out, do a little inventory check. Test the owner out a bit. Sounds like you've been here before! Get out there and check it out. Even if not fixing right now, you'll know right where it is when you get to it. Let's see some pictures when you are there!

Unpopular opinon: You have a garage full of unfinished projects and you're 75. Have you asked your heirs what they'd like to be saddled with?
Actually, I did. I have 2 sons, that will be the sole heirs of my toys.
I was just following up the conversation this morning with the elder. I was telling him, I just wanted to get it road worthy, so I could experience the drive.
I hope to take some action this month.
I have a car hauler, with winch, no issues
Can put one car on the lift and roll it in under. I have a new Factory 5 Cobra, I need to leave first out, since I want to put some miles on it, before my age starts putting on the brakes.
May have to put the Sunbeam on the lift, probably a better choice.
Well, just planning, need to buy it first.
Thanks to everyone for the input .

Well, I saw the Tiger today. Bad news, it is not a Mk II. It is a Mk 1A, which makes it a 260. All the check points, confirm it is a Tiger.
It has a few pin holes of rust in the trunk and a few pencil size ones behind the drivers seat.
It has rack and pinion steering, running change as they created the Mk II.
Car is straight and has a dent in one of the under car frame rails.
It has traction bars, with some terrible welds on the front attachment points.
It has the fiberglass hardtop and he has the frame for the convertible top.
2.88 rear gears, close ratio T-10.
I could not find any indication of impact accidents.
He had previously quoted me a price. I asked where he was on money. He said, his wife told him not to give it away, it was worth a lot of money.
I told him, I could give him cash for his quote, but he said, he would have to check with mama.
I guess she's been watching Barret Jackson.
I told him, give me shout, when he decided.
I think I can pass on anything above the quote.
I took some pictures and will post after the deal is made or rejected.
I feel mama will be googling a lot.
Car is titled as 1967, but is a 1966 car. Must have been the last of the MK 1A's
I think it can be put on the road pretty easily, but cannot get wrapped up in all that details it needs.
