www.svtperformance.com/forums/front-page-news-143/904396-brothers-performance-car-show.htmlA generous aspect of the Brothers event is a steady supply of affordable food and drink to fuel attendees through the day. The BBK Grill was cranking out $1 hot dogs and $2 burgers all day long. We grabbed a burger and it was delicious. Standing watch beside the grill was this Kenny Brown-prepped New Edge GT owned by JMP Chip & Performance and driven to the show by JMS’ Brad Grissom. This car gets driven hard regularly around tracks like Sebring International Raceway.
The annual Brothers Performance spring show is open to all makes, but the Fords stole the show
By Steve Turner
The feeling of spring arrives in Central Florida much earlier than it does elsewhere in the country, and each spring Brothers Performance celebrates the warmer weather by opening its doors for an all-makes car show. Obviously the company sells gear for all of the modern muscle cars, but its roots are in the Mustang and Ford world, and those roots obviously run deep because the Blue Oval was well represented at this year’s show.
More than just a show, this event incorporates a dyno day, an exhaust sound off, a raffle drawing, and a cookout. Of course the free dyno runs proved quite popular, and several Mustangs represented by rocking the rollers. We witnessed a couple of 400rwhp Coyotes doing their thing, and several other Mustangs posted runs as well.
Likewise over 30 cars of all makes and models participated in the exhaust sound off measured as scientifically as possible by a dB meter on tripod at the entry of the Brothers warehouse. The top-three winners took home $100, $60, and $40 Brothers gift certificates. The aforementioned raffle was of the 50/50 variety, so the winner would take 50-percent of the tickets sales. The winner nabbed $250, while the remainder of the proceeds was donated to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Naturally, Brothers will host another show next spring, so if you are in the area on March 28, 2015, it is definitely a fun day. However, you don’t have to wait that long, as they also host an annual fall show in October.
Obviously Brothers hosts this show to get customers to check out its impressive facilities, but it shouldn’t take an event to get you by this place. It is located right off of Interstate 4 in Deland, Florida, so if you are visiting the Sunshine State, you can stop in and get your parts fix at this beautiful facility. They also have a full installation and dyno facility if you need your gear installed and tuned.
We often sense a division between owners of classic Foxes and the modern Mustangs, so it was great seeing today’s Coyote displayed with a pristine ’93 Cobra, the first Mustang to kick off the SVT breed. Both were nearly stock, but the ”93 is obviously wearing chrome wheels. This is the sort of Mustang pairing we enjoy. If you have room in your collection, it’s great to have an older Mustang and a modern Mustang so you can drive the one that suits your mood.
Sure we are on the eve of an Ecoboost Mustang, but the 3.7-liter V6 in today’s Mustangs has come a long way from the previous generation of six-cylinder Mustangs. These cars roll off the dealer lot with the same power as the storied 1998 Cobra—305 ponies. However, they are filled with robust internals, and really take to mods like an intercooled ProCharger centrifugal blower. ProCharger says this kit will crank up an otherwise-stock 3.7 Mustang by 170 horsepower. That makes for a really fun, well-balanced ride.
The owner of this 2010 Stage 1 Roush Mustang was not just displaying the car for fun, he was looking to find a new owner for his ride. If he posted it in The Market, we bet it has already sold by now. In addition to its Roush bits, the GT features GT500 wheels, and Brembo 14-inch front brakes.
One of the best Mustangs ever built, the 2013 Boss 302 is stunning in Race Red. If you’ve never driven one, you owe it to yourself to take one around a racetrack at least once. All you need to know is this car is the benchmark that Ford engineers decided to beat with the forthcoming 2015 Mustang GT. If the new Mustang is faster than this car, it is going to fly. This one was clean and stock, save for an Airaid cold-air intake that meshes so well with the RoadRunner engine compartment it looks like it could have been stock.
Your editor once owned a Chrome Yellow ’98 Cobra and it still stands as one of those cars that got away. It is still missed a little when we see cars like this fine example. It wears a polished Vortech supercharger complemented by a chrome intake manifold and a choice selection of shiny dress-up bits. The chrome Cobra R-style wheels carry that theme to the outside. As impressive as it is under the hood, it is equally impressive in the trunk where a massive audio system powers multiple subs and components.
Chris Stano of Advance, North Carolina, showed off his Atlantic Blue 2000 Mustang GT packing a Tork Tech-supercharged Two-Valve 4.6 pumping out 348 rear-wheel horsepower. It looks like the perfect ride to road-trip down for Spring Break in Central Florida.
Your scribe has a soft spot for the Fox Mustangs. You always remember your first love, and back in the day this little coupe would have been one of the meanest machines on the street. Sporting a Hogan sheetmetal intake to raise the rev window and boosted by a Vortech supercharger, this coupe still wears the classic Pony five-spokes. It is a clean, classic Fox.
Another clean ’Stang was this New Edge GT. With the classic Bullitt wheels on the outside, this plain, white wrapper could surprise unsuspecting challengers. Under the hood it is packing a Vortech supercharger huffing into an Accufab elbow and throttle body.
We have seen a few Lightning swaps over the years, but this might just be the coolest. Who wouldn’t want to roll with the top down and have that Eaton whining away as it protrudes through a massive cut-out in the hood? This is also one of the cleanest, most factory-like swaps. It looks almost like it belongs there—almost.
This S197 beauty draws from a variety of styling schools; from the Roush body pieces to the Shelby GT350 striping it is definitely styled to suit its owner. Under the hood, the car takes a more unified direction to increase its power output. The Three-Valve 4.6 is topped by a Whipple supercharger, which has the capability to push a properly equipped Three-Valve to 700 horsepower.
Marc Peters showed off his 2007 Saleen Heritage edition. Under the hood, his ride sports a unique combo based on Edelbrock’s clean, TVS-based supercharger system. These blower kits are available in Street, Track, and Professional Tuner configurations that can take a Mustang from 466 to 700 horsepower.
Tom Miller brought out his incredible, turbocharged 2000 Mustang GT. With an insane number of custom details engineered by Tom himself, this New Edge recently represented the breed well in 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords’ King of the Street competition. Of course Tom is not done with the car, he is still tweaking it for more power and more refinement.
SVTP’s Project Silver Lining wasn’t the only Focus ST representing at the Brothers Performance show. This red-and-blue pair were set up for autocrossing and looking great with lowered ride heights and murdered-out stock wheels. We spoke briefly with a friend of the owners, who asked about PSL, and he as considering making the move from a Mustang to an ST as well.
Race Red and blacked out, this Coyote was looking sharp rolling on Bravado Tributes. It’s the only other modern Mustang we’ve seen in person to wear the same rims as SVTP’s Project Vapor Trail.
A strong contingent of 3.7-liter V-6 fans was on the ground at the Brothers show. We have long contended that the 3.7 would get a lot more love if it didn’t live in the shadow of the Coyote. However, this silver sixer is doing its part to give the six-banger the respect it deserves. Not only does the car look sharp with its unique body and wheel upgrades, but it also sports 3.7 and 3.7L Cyclone badges on its flanks.
Your author was once told a magazine wouldn’t sell if it said Coyote on the cover. Well, the Mustang world certainly seems to have embraced Ford’s unofficial designation for the modern 5.0 engine. This example is looking sharp on Forgestar wheels and sporting a Coyote-themed Boss-style stripe.
It’s hard to go wrong with a Vapor Silver GT500. This one sports a tried-and-true TVS supercharger breathing through a JLT Big Air carbon-fiber cold-air intake. A JLT oil separator keeps its inlet path free of contamination.
