Has anyone used their mobil 1 full synthetic for more than one oil change?. I am thinking that the oil does not break down after say 5-7 k miles. Can we just use a quality filter and put the full syn back in?........any thoughts?.:read:

I did that on my 98 Cobra until I traded it. Now I'm using Amsoil, but same concept. I change the filter and top off every 3,000 miles, then do a full oil change every 12, 000.
Some will disagree with me on that, but to date, noone has claimed any oil related failures using extended drain intervals with synthetic. If in doubt, send a sample in for analysis. Look for increased levels of contaminants (gas for one, which could slide past rings when engine is cold). If that level goes up, then do a full oil change more often. Just my opinion.
