She lives!!!

Drove her all over town today in her new trim.

The motor went in last week and we plan to break her in with a 5 hour drive this weekend. Tuning should start next week if we can take care of any Gremlins..

This thing drew a ton of attention.

Kids ate it up.

Had one older lady do a double take and then shake her head and then laugh. My buddy and I cracked up at the same time knowing that we are ready and have achienved what we set out to build.

I am going to try to Debut her at the NMRA season opener in Bradenton Florida this weekend.

About this time one year ago the idea to build what we thought would be the best representation for a truck Bullrun has seen started.

We took the shell of an Ex drag truck that had not been more than 20 miles at a time in half a decade and built a Rally Lightning!!!

The truck started with no seats, suspension, Engine, Tranny, most of the wiring was gone.

This is the full story

Lightning has Struck!! Team Strucks Ford SVT Lightning | Bullrun: Rallying the World

Last Friday night we charged the AC, filled her up with fresh oil and hit the road for a 350 mile round trip to the season opener of NMRA in Bradenton Florida.

Not only did she perform flawless she won her class in the car show!!!

Next week we start the tuning!!!!!

Thanks it was a long nervous weekend taking her that far after such an extensive build.

I will have her tuned this week and can't wait to see the new traction system.

She sure feels like no other lightning I have been in with the X brace installed.

Cant wait to get her to a few tracks.

After another 5 hour drive we have her tuned.

Final combo was 8# lower with a 2.7 upper

We saw 14 psi after the climb.

All the tuning was street tuning with a crazy safe 11.3

We are going to have to step on on the maf to use the 10# lower. The 2400 was in the mid 900s

It was about 70 degrees out and on the pull we saw 130 down streams and they just sat there so the MP still wants to be spun harder and it will!!!!!! This was without running the Icey Res.

This is a great start and it drives like a dream. When it goes WOT it sounds like pure rage. I had my wife drive it home after dinner and I sat right next to the tail pipe to listen to the sweat music.

The whine is awesome but the exhaust is covering it up more than I want. I may tone the exhaust down some after I see what it sounds like from outside and after I get Typhoon to do some fly byes.

Next mission is to stabilize the rear axle better. Long bars will sit to low for Bullrun so we are either going to use Metcos or see what Brain at Stifflers comes up with.

I will have her at the Gator Nationals Car show on Saturday!

Want to hear it scream louder? Lose the box that shields the filter. Love the way it has turned out. Truly hope to see you all get on TV!

We might. I still plan to add the chickenears scoop since the underside of the box is plumbed for an air tube.

Then again I do love the whine.

http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-winches ... jl$tgAZm.2

Then it's off to the Piccadilly's Brew Pub & Restaurant for a Pre-Rally Meal

July 19th ~ DAY 1

Starting line 8:00 AM

Old Town Winchester with it's the open air mall and historic commercial district lined with 18th and 19th century buildings will provide us with a Historic & Scenic back drop from which to launch from it is one of the oldest standing towns west of the Appalachia Mountains.

This leg will have no less then 8 Check points near or along Skyline Drive Virginia.
http://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/d ... -drive.htm

One is a raceway where you will be taking your car out on the track

Shenandoah Speedway features a 3/8 mile track with compound banking of 12, 10, 8, and 6 degrees in turns 60 feet wide. Straights are 375 feet long with 6 degrees of banking.

Sanctioning Bodies: INEX, MMRA, VMCRA, ...and SVSRL

The finish line for the day one is the Natural Bridge Virginia Hotel and Convention center. We have arranged for a discounted price for the tour of Natural Bridge and the Cedar Trail of $8. Tours run until 9 PM in the evening.

Natural Bridge - Natural Bridge Virginia

The minimum amount of time allowed for this leg is 6 hours and 35 minutes. That allows for 1 minute at each check point along Skyline and a few additional minutes at a second National park to be named on your route cards the morning of the 19th. If your team comes in under this time you will be DISQUALIFIED from this leg.

Additionally any tickets from a Law Enforcement Officer or video evidence of a team excessively speeding will get you DISQUALIFIED from receiving any awards for the entire event. ~YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED~

We ask that teams be available (optional) in the lobby of the Hotel on the 19th at 6:00 PM for Police escorted drive into Lexington VA. (12 miles north) Lexington is planning to promote our arrival so expect several hundred people to welcome us into town and we will have reserved parking once we arrive in town.

There are several restaurant/bars located in the downtown area. I know the people of this area and believe we should receive one hell of a welcome. For those that want to stay at the hotel they have a full service restaurant/bar The Fox Tavern. (which is where you will find me after the drive back from Lexington)

Some check points will require walking/running (if you feel you need to run) in order to reach them. Additionally we will be entering two National Parks (read take it easy in the parks) and there will be entry fees for both parks. (total cost being roughly $30 total for a team of two)

July 20th ~ DAY 2

8:00 AM Cars will be lined up as we roll out of Natural Bridge VA.

minimum amount of time allowed for this leg TBA (expect 8 hours)

Some check points will require walking/running (if you feel you need to run) in order to reach them. Additionally we will be entering two National Parks (read take it easy in the parks) and there will be entry fees for one parks. (total cost being roughly $20 total for a team of two)

On to the Track "Too Tough to Tame" Darlington Raceway for a couple of laps on the World famous race track.

There will be a few interesting check points tossed in on our way to our final check point the Marriott in Charleston SC.

That evening we have reserved the top two floors of the Southend Brewery in the historic district of Charleston for an end of rally party with Live entertainment

There are the highlights of what promises to be the Not to be Missed rally of 2011. We have a few surprises tossed in as well but they are to be discovered by those brave enough to tag along.
