I have a metco pulley but I haven't put it on yet. Do I have to worry about it coming off? Will they exchange the old design for the new one?

the goat was quick, but it was heavily modded and he still couldn't keep up unless he was on the 150 shot. He was with a few others that were running 14's.

Not that it really matters, but you said the GTO was running 11.7 off the bottle which is certainly keeping up with your 11.6 and 11.8 runs. You also said it ran 10.9 on the bottle, which is waxing your a$$. Now go get that pulley and belt fixed and see if you can't return the favor!

Best of luck hitting 10's with the pulley!

Do you have any performance mods other than tune, drive shaft, and tires?

I know you have the coilovers and was wondering how you are adjusting them at the track, or if you are at all? If anything I would expect them to hurt your launch, so a 1.6 60' is very impressive.

The way I have my suspension set up makes it harder to launch than stock. I feel if I had the stock suspension, I would have some 1.5's...which I still don't think is out of the question with my setup.

Do you think its a weight transfer issue? or is it a function of the stiffer coil overs making the launch shock to the tires harder(thus adding to the loss of traction)? And did you have to change the pinion angle to deal with the one piece drive shaft?

Hope I haven't missed anything and thanks again.

it is definitely a weight transfer issue, it doesn't do it. The stiffer springs also are shocking the tires harder, some guys can dump the clutch where I have to ease out of the hole.

The pinion angle had to be compensated. For a lowered car with a 1 piece shaft you want to be ~-1.5*.

I noticed in the video it said you had 3.73 gears. Did you have those when you ran prior, such as your 12.7@120 on street tires? Big difference between stock?

Hey Dave, any issues in putting the stock pulley back on or is that just BS about the stock pulley breaking once you take it off the car?

total BS. The stock pulley has been taken off and put on 3 times now.

I didn't have the gears or the cai when i ran my 12.7 or my 11.89, i also did those runs on the stock tires and 275/40/17 mt dr's.

Before the belt went to shit, on the street with the gears the car pulled way harder. I can totally see how MD03SVT went 11.25 @ 126 with 4.10's. The car really wakes up a lot with gears and I have some wussy 3.73's. I really think that on the stock pulley with the gears I have, I would go 11.30 @ 123. I will punch myself in the balls if I don't get a 10 with the pulley.

Here are the slips

on 26x10.5x16 ET streets

1.642
4.797
7.425
94.39
9.687
11.595
118.22

also had a 11.606 @ 118.73, 11.62 @ 118.18 and other 11.7-11.8's.

Sounds like you ran some 11.7's and 11.8's which would certainly make your average higher than low 11.6's. Regardless, one or two tenths is definitely "keeping up" as you put it.

Realize I am just giving you a hard time because so many people rag on the GTO and it is a plenty capable car. :beer:

Let us know when you get back to the track with the new pulley.

once i figured out how to launch the car I ran low 11.6's. my last 3 passes were 11.59, 11.60 and 11.62. My first pass of the day was 12.3 with a 2.2 60' and missing second.

Hi Guys....I'm new here but I spent the day with Dave on Sunday and yes....I'm also the owner/driver of the GTO in question here. I would say that our cars are pretty evenly matched the way they sit. Sure, he had a 4 rib torn up belt on a 10 rib setup but even if he had a good belt I think it would still be a drivers race for sure. Dave and I ran 3 times and he got me twice.....

In summary
1st run
Dave Me
R/T - .205 -229
60' - 1.709 1.688
1/4 - 11.803 11.881
MPH - 117.59 112.09
W=Dave

2nd Run
Dave Me
R/T - .272 .059
60' - 1.642 1.635
1/4 - 11.595 11.813
MPH - 118.22 112.13
W=Me

2nd Run
Dave Me
R/T - .061 .051
60' - 1.664 1.627
1/4 - 11.620 11.848
MPH - 118.18 111.45
W=Dave

Needless to say, the runs were all VERY close. I didn't Spray my car on those runs as I'm in the high 10's on the spray and really wanted to see how my car would match up against his. It was a blast for sure!! I'm looking forward to next season. I'll have my D1SC installed and tuned along with my 150 shot so, I'll be a bit more competitive ;-)

The GT500 is a beautiful car for sure, just too rich for my blood.......

Peace,

Mark

D1sc + 150 shot on stock internals ??

I agree.........good luck with that. As Procharger claims, they've had good luck with the P1SC on GM's latest h/comp motors but you're going D1 and spray??? No comment.............but again, good luck!!

Well, there are more than a few LS2 based cars with the D1. It's all about AFR at that point. If I can keep the AFR reasonable, it should hold together. I'd be happy to get one season out of it. Then I'll build a new forged bottom end and spray the hell out of it!
