No idea. Just got the part# from someone in a position to know and figured it might help some of us that were having problems.

That is not a new driveshaft. That is the same driveshaft that has been on 03 Cobras since day 1. I think someone gave you bogus info.

I'm waiting on a DS now for my vibe. Service advisor said they are making a new DS with a new part number. Been waiting a couple weeks now.

You're not the only one. My car has been sitting inside the dealer's shop for 10 days awaiting this DS. They also replaced the head, but did that in two days. Figured since they were nice enough to give me this Taurus under my SVT warranty, I'd just leave everything as it is and rack up mileage on this baby! Pretty boring, but it's FREE!

At least Ford is finally cooperating on these issues. For so long, all I heard was, "it's characteristic of the Cobra" or "what noise, I don't hear anything!" I hope it all works out for all of us. It didn't thrill me thinking of my engine being torn apart, but c'est la vie.

Hell, I received THAT new DS twice, once in November, and again in March, along with brand new diffs. This one is the NEW new DS!

I e-mailed Torrie at Ford Parts network. According to him:
"2R3Z 4602-BA has been replaced by 2R3J-4602-AA

2R3Z 4602-BA was the standard drive shaft used by Ford on the 03 cobra
since the initial build"

Sorry, you are correct
The 2R3J-AA is the latest. The 2R3Z-AA was the initial shaft, replaced by the 2R3Z-BA. Now on it's second replacement the 2R3J-4602-AA. It is the new one, but still on backorder.

I REALLY would love to know the differences in these shafts!
