Not yet, I am sure I will pick up the DVD.

Seems like I read somewhere that roughly 70% of all battlefield casualties were from artillery fire? My grandfather was on the receiving end of WWI German artillery, but he never said much about it, except for the gas, especially the mustard gas. This would be terrifying. Video is a recreation of what a drumfire barage from WW1 would most likely sound like in person.

And that F16XL, with the titanium glove over the left wing, yours truly was one of the project managers on that - many moons ago.
For a basically first hand account, which goes a long way to showing how f’d it was, read Through the Wheat.Definitely check it out. Changed my entire idea of what WW1 was like.
What advantages did this design have over the regular f16 design?
Was the modification not significant enough to become the standard production design?Other than longer legs, I can’t really recall. We used it for our experiments because it had the speed and leading edge sweep we needed <cough>.

If you’re referring to the XL’s cranked-arrow delta wing, no. It was a concept demonstrator - supercruise and supersonic maneuverability. But it was a major structural mod and had only one engine, so IIRC the Air Force went with the F-15E Strike Eagle.
If you’re referring to our titanium glove on the left wing, it was just an experiment.
